Why Benchmarks Should Be Your Bedside Reading
By Karla Capers, May 10th, 2012 | No Comments »The following is a guest post from our friend Karla Capers, who runs the online program at the Union of Concerned Scientists. She offered to give us a peek into how she uses the eNonprofit Benchmarks Study in her daily life. Enjoy.
I should probably admit up front that I’m kind of a data junkie. It’s got nothing to do with actually liking math or knowing tons of Excel tricks. I love data and metrics and benchmarks because they make my job easier – and they make me look smart and strategic.
Whether I’m trying to determine the best strategy for an online advocacy campaign or our next series of fundraising appeals, they tell me what’s working, what’s not, and where we need to focus our efforts. I do what the numbers tell me to do.
Benchmarks 2012 Q&A
By Sarah DiJulio and Cameron Lefevre, May 3rd, 2012 | No Comments »Nearly 400 of you joined us for our Benchmarks in-person event and webinar, and we couldn’t have asked for a better audience.
At the event, we received so many questions about our 2012 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study that we couldn’t answer them all… so we’re answering a few more right here. Have a question we missed? Send us an email!
Q: I missed the webinar and in-person event. Are the slides available?
A: Yes! You can download the webinar slides here and listen to the webinar here. The Benchmarks study is a free download, as well.
A Few Thoughts On This Year’s NTC
By Cameron Lefevre, Apr 6th, 2012 | No Comments »Sarah, Steve, Megan and I were the lucky M+R staffers who got to attend this year’s Nonprofit Technology Conference in San Francisco earlier this week.
Some personal highlights were the release of our 2012 eNonprofit Benchmarks Study (couldn’t make it to NTC but still want the scoop? RSVP here for our upcoming benchmarks webinar!) and these awesome illustrated notes the folks at Rally took during my colleague Steve’s session on using storytelling in nonprofit fundraising (based on the super-popular Storytelling and the Art of Email Writing).
We also LOVED having a chance to take a step back and think about the big picture with friends and colleagues we don’t see every day.
