Over the course of his 21- month presidential campaign, Barack Obama’s online fundraising machine raised an unprecedented $500+ million1 online from some three million donors who made a combined 6.5 million donations to the Obama campaign online. Although most nonprofit organizations cannot realistically expect to build a list of three million online donors in a 21-month period, many of the campaign’s successful online fundraising strategies are simple enough for any organization to implement.
